Dimitris Itoudis visited Euroleague coaches meeting
Our team’s head coach participated in the traditional EuroLeague coaches meeting held in Barcelona past two days.

“First day was devoted to talks with EuroLeague management about the growth in the interest to the tournament,” Dimitris Itoudis said. “It is obvious if you see the increasing number of fans in the stands as well as in social media statistics. The main idea of EuroLeague is to make the game more spectacular. In order to do this obviously the coaches and players should be more approachable for interviews, shootings and different events. We discussed the idea of using technology like sensors that can help us monetarize our competition and interact more with fans, demonstrating them players’ speed, acceleration, height of their jump. This can be the way to attract young generations that uses mobile devices a lot. We also discussed so called windows for the National Teams. It is obvious that coaches and players are linked to the clubs with their contracts and playing for the club is their main priority. I hope that this is an obvious thing that is not necessary to discuss in the future because it is impossible for the players to leave their clubs while they have their duties their. Today we talked a lot about referring. One of the topics was the usage of instant replay to grade the unsportsmanlike foul. Besides we discussed some small things, details that FIBA has to explain, not interpretated well yet. It is good to see all coaches coming to unanimous decision on many questions. We watch and analyzed a lot of videos together. Our common goal is to make the game more attractive, to help shooters and drivers, to create best possible picture of the game for the spectators. We are looking forward to such meetings. They show us that Euroleague doesn’t sleep, tries and o find new ways to attract fans. We need also to develop coaching association to have even more coaches involved in our discussions.”
