Victor Khryapa is a new CSKA Moscow captain
Forward Victor Khryapa was named a captain of CSKA Moscow at a meeting of the team. Let us remind that Matjaz Smodis who will miss a significant part of the upcoming season due to injury carried the title last season.

Victor Khryapa:

“I am honored to continue the tradition of the captains of a great team, the team which won a huge number of titles and achieved a lot. Season promises to be difficult due to major changes in the coaching staff and in the roster. I will try to lead by example on the court and to show that I deserve to have such an honorable title.”

Andrey Vatutin, PBC CSKA President:

“Matjaz Smodis did an excellent job as a captain last season. Alas, Matjaz will not be able to help the team until the New Year, and we had to choose a player who will lead the others. Frankly speaking, it did not take a lot of time: Victor Khryapa was an evident candidate. Victor enjoys unquestioned authority; he is a true leader, endowed with a great sense of humor and, most importantly, a true fighter, able to light up the partners and supporters. I wish our new captain fast recovery and return on the court.”

Evgeny Pashutin, CSKA Head Coach:

“Victor has a bright personality, he is a basketball player with a big heart and strong character, he is able to lead his teammates at difficult moments. I wish him fast recovery and return on the court.”
