CSKA is drawn to Euroleague Group B

Euroleague Draw 2011-12 finished in Barcelona. Our team will play in Group B together with Panathinaikos, Unicaja, Zalgiris, Brose Baskets and Zagreb.

Each season we see some of the same teams. We are happy to receive these teams in our group. After the last unsuccessful season, our fans deserve better. Everyone says that CSKA has made a good roster, but it is not final for us. It’s important to find good chemistry in the team and we will work for that.

Jonas Kazlauskas, CSKA head coach:

It is not a secret that Panathinaikos is a super club, acting Euroleague champion. As I see from the news, Zalgiris puts the stakes high this offseason trying to improve the team. Unicaja does the same, the club is disappointed with recent European results. I do not know Zagreb well, but they won Croatian League dethroning Euroleague participant Cibona, therefore I expect them to be strong. Brose Baskets keeps average European level which allows to fight against any great team on a good night. Our group appeared to be strong and interesting. Any opponent sets the goals high in a games against CSKA. And I don’t think there is a need to discuss the group’s strength. If you want to go far, you should not expect to meet weak opponents on your way. Besides, I think, the time of weak opponents in the Euroleague passed several years ago.
