Euroleague’s coaches discussed tournament’s future
The meeting of the Euroleague teams’ head coaches took place in Barcelona. CSKA was represented with Dimitris Itoudis.

The meeting was traditionally split into two sessions. First featured Euroleague President Jordi Bertomeu, in the second one the participants discussed basketball-related topics with Kostas Rigas, the Euroleague Basketball’s director of referees.

“The main thing which was supported unanimously that we have to defend the interests of the best European basketball competition,” CSKA head coach Dimitris Itoudis said. “It is great that Jordi Bertomeu and the Euroleague management understand the importance of this meetings, of sharing the opinions. Here we all are on the same page. One of the main conclusions was a desire to work closely with FIBA Europe and domestic leagues to optimize calendar and to create harmonic system of competition. We should not overload our stars with huge amount of games though it’s very important to play for the National Teams and in National Leagues. On the second day Kostas Rigas came out with e3xplanations and clarifications of different rules. Coaches stressed attention on time-out rules expressing very logical desire to have more control on choosing he time to talk to their team. Also, in my opinion, it would be useful to have a meeting with all Euroleague refs. That would allow us to share common understanding in our view of basketball, on rules interpretations. The referees are as important members of our competition as the players and coaches.”
