Yesterday PBC CSKA flew to Serbia to play in the Champions Cup, which begins today in the city of Novi Sad. CSKA head coach is taking 12 players for the tournament.

Guards: Theodoros Papaloukas, Marcus Brown, Anton Yudin, J.R. Holden and Yegor Vyaltsev

Centers: Alexey Savrasenko, Alexander Bashminov and Dragan Tarlach

Forwards: Sergey Panov, Viktor Khryapa, Sergey Monya and Mirsad Turkcan

This is the same roster that will travel to St. Petersburg next weekend for the Vladimir Kondrashin and Alexander Belov Cup.


Today at 20:00 Moscow Time the Army club will face its former center Victor Alexander, who plays for the Spanish club Unicaja. The television channel RTR-Sport plans to show a replay of the game beginning at 21:20 Moscow time. At 00:15 viewers can watch the tournament’s other game between Skipper and Panathinaikos.

This first round of the Champions Cup consists of six teams divided into two groups:
Group A: Barcelona (Spain), Skipper (Italy), Panathinaikos (Greece)
Group B: CSKA (Russia), Unicaja (Spain), Red Star (Serbia and Montenegro)

After group play, the first-place teams will play for the championship trophy. Organizers are also planning consolation games.
