From Caja to Unicaja
In a second straight game our team will host Spanish club in Moscow. Unicaja follows the steps of Caja Laboral in the first game of the Euroleague Top 16. All the fans attending the game will join CSKA and the Euroleague who will contribute all the money earned from tickets in Round 1 to the victims of Haiti earthquake.

The victory in the VTB United League added good mood to red-blues and enough time to rest and prepare for the next game. It is supposed that CSKA will meet the guests in full roster with only one player out of reach for Evgeny Pashutin: Matjaz Smodis who rehabilitates after back surgery began practicing individually. Doctors gave ok to Artem Zabelin (eye concusion) to practice.

“It is very important for us to be successful in the home games at this stage, - CSKA head coach Evgeny Pashutin said. We prepare very seriously for the game against Unicaja because even being the first team in the Top 16 it can be crucial for us in the end. Unicaja plays very aggressive and fast, it uses a number of defensive systems with a lot of double teams. Coach Aito Reneses has a deep bench with a number of players who help team’s leaders Cook, Freeland, Archibald, Jimenez, Printezis. The team went through some roster changes but their newcomer Dixon scored 26 points in the recent game of Spanish League. So we should play very attentively in defense, concentrating on their best scorers.”

Unicaja roster changes mentioned by CSKA coach were made in the backcourt mostly. The club from Malaga released Taquan Dean (signed by Caja Laboral recently) and added to Americans – shooting guard Juan Dixon and point guard Zab Dowdell. Injuries did not allow Joseph Gomis and Saul Blanco to travel to Moscow, so coach Aito Reneses added young point guard Rafa Freire and Brasilian forward Augusto Lima to roster.
