The Year 2009 for CSKA begins with a Superleague game against ‘military pilots’ from Samara.

CSKA players were back from Christmas holidays on 30th December so they had four days for full-rate preparing to the game against CSK VVS. During the practice on Friday Russian champions were practicing in full roster, including Zoran Planinic, Matjaz Smodis and Ramunas Siskauskas who have had health problems during VTB United League Promo Cup.

“Zoran fully recovered from the concussion, Matjaz and Ramunas are practicing with the team as well, - CSKA head coach Ettore Messina said. – That means that they used the break in a right way and they will play most certainly. So even though Samara added Clancy to their roster we stay optimistic and confident before the game”.

The visitors from Samara arrived to Moscow on Friday and practiced on USH CSKA court in the evening. During the New Year break the team changed the foreigner: after losing Eric Hicks who went to Telindus Oostende CSK VVS added American forward Sam Clancy.
