President of RBF Sergey Chernov named 12 players who will fly to Gdansk to participate in Eurobasket 2009 during the press conference today. Russian NT head coach David Blatt and team's captain Sergey Monya were in attendance.
The dozen is not the final list. Everybody awaits on doctors' verdict on Victor Khryapa's condition. CSKA forward passed MRI today and tomorrow he will meet Prof. Andrey Korolev.
Now the Russian National team's roster is following:
guards Sergey Bykov (Dynamo), Egor Vyaltsev (Triumph), Alexey Zozulin (Spartak), Anton Ponkrashov (CSKA), Vitaly Fridzon (Khimki), forwards Andrey Vorontsevich, Nikita Kurbanov (both - CSKA), Fedor Dmitriev, Kelly McCarthy (both - Khimki), Sergey Monya (Dynamo), centers Timofey Mozgov (Khimki), Dmitry Sokolov (CSKA).
Our team is also represented by coaches Evgeny Pashutin, Dmitry Shakulin, physiotherapist Asker Bartcho and doctor Alexander Zykov who joined the team recently.
Unfortunately Russian NT coaches had to leave Alexander Kaun at home at the last moment. He was diagnosed with diskal hernia and recommended to avoid physical trainings for two weeks.
