Last night, on Wednesday, the 21st of November, 2018, one of the best EuroLeague games of the season took place in Moscow, CSKA Moscow vs Zalgiris Kaunas. Unfortunately, during one of the offensive possessions of the Lithuanian team at the end of the fourth quarter, an error occurred in the operation of the shot clock, and the time of possession for the guest team was trimmed down by four seconds.

On behalf of PBC CSKA, I declare that there were no malicious intentions behind this error at the scorers table and the technical staff of the arena. We acknowledge our responsibilities to operate the equipment in the arena, however, control over the time of the game, in accordance with the EuroLeague regulations and FIBA official rules should be exercised by the referees in the field.

During the course of the game, sadly, the incident had gone unnoticed by all participants – neither did we (CSKA) or Zalgiris coaching staff, or the referees notice what took place. In addition, following the game, Zalgiris made no claims regarding the error. The diagnostics that took place earlier today, following the game, showed no technical error, and the operator of the shot clock denies any connection to the incident.

We sincerely regret that an unintentional mistake has brought doubt to the final score and the emotions of our fans and fans around the league.

All necessary materials are being transferred at this moment to the Euroleague, which, undoubtedly, will take an objective decision on the results of the investigation. We are sure that we won in a fair fight, and mistakes are part of any game, as long as they are unintentional.

We hope our longtime friendship with Zalgiris will continue with the highest honor and respect.

Andrey Vatutin, President
