Georgy Artemiev was born in 1961. In 1983 he graduated from North Ossetin State University. From 1987 to 1989 was the coach of track and field USSR National team reserve. From 1989 to 1992 worked in the complex science group at track and field National team. From 1992 to 2002 worked in different sports organizations. Started to work for MBC Dynamo in 2002. Moved to CSKA in 2006.
