Night in the castle
Our team stopped in just 22 km to Bamberg on the way to the game vs Brose, in the small town Reichmannsdorf.

The Army Men took a Rossiya charter flight to Nuremberg before boarding the bus on the way to the hotel. It is quite difficult to accomodate in Bamberg this time of the year, so it was decided to stay in Bavarian countryside, in the hotel built in the castle, built in 1714.

“We prepare for tough game as usually there in Bamberg,” CSKA head coach Dimitris Itoudis said. “Brose is a well-respected team and we are not fooled by their record – actually they fought in all games. They have many familiar faces as we played them four times last season, so we know what to expect. They get extra energy from their home crowd, from amazing basketball atmosphere. We have to work hard from minute one, to match their energy, aggressiveness and athleticism. Every opponent is highly motivated against us so we have to maintain our focus, to have this fighting mindset in every game.”

“Relativity” connections

Kyle Hines began his Euroleague career with Brose Baskets Bamberg during the 2010-11 season. He helped Bamberg to the German League and Cup double that season.

Nikos Zisis played two seasons for CSKA between 2007 and 2009. Only forwards Victor Khryapa, Andrey Vorontsevich and Nikita Kurbanov remain from his time at the club. Together they won the Euroleague in 2008.

Nikita Kurbanov played under Bamberg Coach Andrea Trinchieri, and alongside Nikos Zisis and Vladimir Veremeenko at Unics in the 2013-14 season. They reached the EuroCup final together.

Janis Strelnieks was a teammate of Nikita Kurbanov during the 2012-13 season at Spartak St. Petersburg.

Vitaly Fridzon was a teammate of Veremeenko at Khimki Moscow Region from 2006 until 2008
