The season for our team continues with the VTB League semifinal series, where CSKA will face last year finalist, Euroleague Top 16 participant Nizhny Novgorod.
“We start the series against the team that we played already four times this season,” CSKA head coach Dimitris Itoudis said. “Nizhny proved to be very competitive in these games; they took good roster decisions to improve the team during the year so we expect tough series. We have to handle our emotions after the Euroleague Final Four but we all are professionals and this is why we are here.”
The Army Men got back to work practically without days off: they did not practice on Monday only, the day, the team returned from Madrid. CSKA practiced in full strength on the next day.
Nizhny Novgorod Club’s Board Director Sergey Panov played for CSKA during 10 seasons (1994-2000, 2002-06). He was the team’s captain in his second stint.
CSKA forward Pavel Korobkov spent the previous two seasons playing for Nizhny Novgorod.
The Army Men athletic trainer Evgeny Burin worked for Nizhny from 2010 to 2012.
Dimitriy Khvostov was a teammate of CSKA Moscow guard Vitaly Fridzon at Khimki Moscow Region from 2011 through 2013.
Dmitry Golovin played for CSKA-2 from 2005 to 2007.
