Starting together with Nornickel
The first home game of the season for our team will be marked as clash of European grands on Megasport parquet. Panathinaikos visits Moscow.

“This is a special game for me not only because I spent 13 years in Panathinaikos but also because PAO is an ambitious team, big club with high expectations and motivated players,” CSKA head coach Dimitris Itoudis said. “They had changes recently but I think this will unite players even more, it will make them more dangerous. The fact that Panathinaikos lost to Olympiacos couple of days ago does not worry me. I know PAO’s strong side as well as week sides that we will try to play on. The game is also special because it will be our first official game in front of our fans this season. I hope to see many fans to come and applaud to European champions. They should show us their expectations. Let’s see what the fans want from us. We will try to show the best to the ones who come.”

“Relativity” connections

The important part of the basketball night is the celebration of 20 years of Nornickel and CSKA cooperation. The sponsorship game will feature famous former players’ autograph session as well as other interesting events.

Coach Dimitris Itoudis spent 12 seasons as an assistant coach at Panathinaikos from 1999 through 2012. He helped the club win five EuroLeague championships, 11 Greek League titles and seven Greek Cups during that span. Nick and Pat Calathes and Antonis Fotsis are the only current Panathinaikos players from Itoudis’s time at the club.

Andreas Pistiolis also worked in PAO coaching staff from 2007 to 2012.

Panathinaikos forward Demetris Nichols spent the last two seasons with CSKA. He was a teammate of most of the current CSKA roster with whom he won the EuroLeague last May.

CSKA playmaker Milos Teodosic and Panathinaikos center Ioannis Bourousis were teammates at Olympiacos Piraeus for four seasons, from 2007 through 2011.

Panathinaikos forward K.C. Rivers was a teammate of CSKA players James Augustine and Vitaly Fridzon at Khimki Moscow Region during the 2012-13 season.
