Guard Melo Trimble (28 years old, 188 cm) signed a one-year contract with our club…

Melo joins CSKA!

Trimble is one of the brightest American players of his generation. In his senior year in school, he took part in the McDonald's All-American game and went to the University of Maryland, known for its strong basketball program. With the Terrapins, he immediately became a leader, averaging 15.9 points, 3.9 assists and 1.2 steals in his career, collected a large number of individual trophies and repeatedly participated in the NCAA March Madness. Together with the Team USA in 2015, Melo became the bronze medalist of the PanAmerican Games (by the way, with ex-CSKA guard Ron Baker).

This status allowed him to enter the 2017 NBA draft after his third year in college. Alas, the pre-draft tryouts were unsuccessful, and Melo was not selected among the best prospects. After the Summer League with Minnesota, he signed a contract, but was soon waived and played in G-League for a year.

Trimble's professional career is very diverse - he has traveled to many parts of the world. The main thing that unites his performances in different countries is the amazing stability, the amazing similarity in statistics. Judge for yourself (and remember about college):

  • 2017-18, G-League, Iowa - 16.2 points, 3.5 rebounds, 5.3 assists, 1.0 steals;
  • 2018-19, Australia, Cairns - 22.5 points, 4.1 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 1.2 steals;
  • 2019, Venezuela, Piratas - 18.0 points, 2.8 rebounds, 6.3 assists, 0.9 steals;
  • 2019-20, Australia, Melbourne - 19.9 points, 3.4 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 1.3 steals;
  • 2020-21, Spain, Fuenlabrada - 15.8 points, 2.2 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.6 steals;
  • 2021-22, Turkey, Galatasaray - 16.6 points, 2.7 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 0.9 steals;
  • 2022-23, China, Shanghai - 17.5 points, 4.3 rebounds, 5.4 assists, 1.3 steals.

In addition to solid stats, Trimble also collected individual awards. In 2019, he was on the second All-Australian Team, and in 2021, he was selected to the second All-ACB Team.

Emil Rajkovic, CSKA head coach:

Melo is a player that already has decent experience in Europe, he played in ACB two years ago, then for Galatasaray in Turkey and a season in China. He comes from the well-known basketball school of University of Maryland. He was always one of the main players of his team. Here he will have a role of playing "one" and "two" next to Casper Ware, his task will be to create for himself and for the others. I wish him to feel comfortable on our team and provide us with the output that we expect.

Melo Trimble, CSKA guard:

I’m very excited to be part of CSKA team. I’ve heard good things about this organization. I’m also excited to meet my new teammates and coaches. It’ll be my first time in Russia and also playing in the VTB League so I’m ready to give it everything I got and win!
