Manu Markoishvili joined CSKA

Forward Manuchar Markoishvili (27 yo, 197 cm) signed 2-year contract with our club.

Georgian player joined our team as free agent. Markoishvili missed significant part of last season because of injury but returned in the final stage and played in 10 Euroleague games (7.9 points, 2.5 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 1.0 steals in 25.6 minutes) and 20 games of Turkish League (9.1 points, 2.0 rebounds, 0.9 assists, 0.9 steals in 24.1 minutes).

Manuchar started his pro career back home when he was 15 and now he’s already an experienced and honored player. He won the titled in Georgia, Italy, Slovenia and Turkey, won FIBA Europe Cup, Italian Cup and Italian Supercup. Markoishvili is a key player for Georgian National Team: he averaged 13.0 points, 2.8 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.0 steals in 33.3 minutes in 4 games of 2013 Eurobasket. Manu is one of the best wingers of European basketball. He shoots well, sees the floor and plays tough defense.

We are happy to obtain such and energetic and passionate player like Manu. I had the opportunity to watch him closely in Turkish League many times past season but I also saw him numerous times playing for Cantu and Georgian National Team. I am sure we can use his energy, passion, dedication, ability to lock and chase any player; his size will help us a lot on defense. We can also use him as an executer on offense. Hopefully all our coaches, players and staff will help him to adjust quickly and to become an integral part of CSKA organization.

Sincerely I did not expect to receive an offer from CSKA though I did dream about it. So when the club contacted me I was happy. I am looking forward to wear the team’s shirt, to become a part of great organization, I want it to happen sooner. I am glad that the dream has become true and I will do my best to try to win every game. I know you have to work hard but it’s great because then you get the chance to fight for the highest goals. I believe that everything will be alright!
