Lithuanian Basketball Federation announced today that our team’s scout Benas Matkevicius joined the coaching staff of his country’s National Team.

During 2013 Eurobasket head coach Jonas Kazlauskas will be assisted by Darius Maskoliunas of Lietuvos Rytas and Gintaras Krapikas of UNICS Kazan. Lokomotiv Kuban’s Sigitas Kavaliauskas will take the athletic coaching duties from army man Evaldas Kandratavicius who will be busy with the club.

“I'm very honored to be a member of the Lithuanian National Team and very thankful to Coach Kazlauskas and the Lithuanian Basketball Federation for putting the trust in me”, - Benas Matkevicius said. “It's a huge responsibility, which I happily accept and am looking forward to carry. It's a dream come true! I also want to thank CSKA and in particular Andrey Vatutin, Natalia Furaeva and Coach Messina, who played a big part in this process supporting me. It means a lot to me that we cooperated well, which speaks for our good work together and relationship on and off the court. Being able to carry Europe's biggest team's (CSKA) and your country's Basketball emblems on your chest at the same time is something everybody in my position dreams of. Naturally, I will do my best to exceed both expectations!”
