Working on holidays
The early conclusion of the quarterfinal series gave the coaching staff the opportunity to devote considerable time to preparation. To maintain a consistent schedule, they had to sacrifice public holidays: the Red-Blues' day off this week fell on May 8th.
Before that, the entire team (except for the injured Ivan Zaytsev) worked in Krylatskoye, and on Victory Day, they moved to Megasport.
"We're playing against a tough opponent in a traditional playoff series," notes CSKA head coach Andreas Pistiolis. "I expect it to be different from the games that we played in the regular season and we count on the support of our fans to help us win."
The Leader Remains
The Railwaymen, as expected, had a tough series against BETCITY Parma, but still ended it in three games (having come back from a 19-game deficit in the third away game), and therefore had been preparing for the semifinals for almost as long as the Army Men.
