With the same lineup
Upon returning from Nizhny Novgorod (thankfully, the team flew on a charter flight with Rossiya Airlines, a subsidiary of Aeroflot's official carrier), the players had time to rest for one day, recover, and then hold their traditional training session in Krylatskoye on Friday before departing. The red-and-blues practiced – and then traveled to Saratov – with the same lineup, without Livio Jean-Charles (thigh) and Antonius Cleveland (ankle), who are recovering.
"We have another away game ahead of us, and recovering from a flight is always difficult," notes CSKA head coach Andreas Pistiolis. "The Saratov team has been playing good basketball this season, even if it's not yet evident in the results. However, everything depends on us. We need to go into the game with the same energy and focus we showed in the previous game, and that will allow us to take home the victory."
Legion from Volga
Last summer, Avtodor underwent another significant roster overhaul. The emphasis on foreign players remained unchanged – Milenko Bogicevic currently has five of them, with only Dusan Beslac retained from last season. He is receiving the most playing time from his coach (34.3 minutes), averaging 13.7 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks. In scoring, he trails only rookie Terrence Edwards (13.7 points, 5.8 rebounds). He is followed by Alex Hamilton (13.0 points, 5.0 assists, 1.7 steals), Alen Hadzibegovic (11.5 points, 7.0 rebounds), and Malik Newman, who has returned to Avtodor (9.5 points). CSKA fans are following Saratov native and CSKA youth team alum Alexander Evseyev with interest. The young forward is averaging nearly 16 minutes per game, averaging 3.7 points and 3.1 rebounds.
