We finished the tournament with only one loss. We lost the game against future champion – Zalgiris. Notice that all the teams from our group beat their opponents of the another group – in the games for the 1st, 3rd, 5th and 7th places. Bronze is a good result for us to my mind. We showed progress from game to game, we worked hard through pain and injuries. We have brave and strong players who never give up. It’s not a common thing for us – being medalists in ANGT. Because we have not much international experience. This season we participated in the tournament in Tenerife. It gave us lots of confidence, we understood that we have a good basketball level and we can compete with big European teams and we can win. Such experience helped us to progress a lot. I hope it will happen again after this Youth EuroLeague.
Sasha Yershov became MVP. It’s the award of the whole team. Everyone tried to help Sasha on the court as he tried to do the same for the team and each teammate. I hope that he understands that it’s time for quick progress and he has to catch the moment. Everybody is looking at him, it’s a big responsibility, but it should not interfere with the game. He must cope with it.
