Youngest of young
The youngest of CSKA teams will start to play Junior Basketball League championship in St. Petersburg on Friday. It will be extremely difficult to defend the championship title this time.

The tournament formula stayed the same in comparison to last season one. All the participants are divided into 6 groups of 4 teams (CSKA is accompanied with Spartak St. Petersburg, Severstal Cherepovets and BC Ryazan) who will play two legs. After that two semifinal rounds will take place with 2 groups of 6 teams participating. 4 best teams of each group will qualify for the final round.

“We start new season with a brand new team, - CSKA-JBL head coach Alexey Zhukov said. The only gold medalist of last year winning team Anton Komolov will play in the games of first round. Our average age is lower than the age of any other team. JBL will be played for the guys born in 1993 and later but most of our players are born in 1995, most of them are from CSKA basketball school. This players are the candidates for Russian U16 National Team which will play in the European Championship next summer, that’s why the decision is taken to provide them with the chance to compete against older players. The players born in 1993 will be invited to the team from CSKA-2 very rarely. The level of our ‘cadets’ is good enough – they won Russian championships in their age three years in a row. PBC CSKA is interested to improve the players so we already invited some guys from the regions. We hope their skills and desire will grow and we will help them as much as we can. The development of the players is our main goal. Still we feel responsibility in means of result because we wear CSKA uniform.”
