Lietuvos Rytas fought hard but CSKA defended its status of favorite and won in Gomelsky Cup semifinal. The game against Panathinaikos – on Saturday.

CSKA vs. Lietuvos Rytas: 74-67

Evgeny Pashutin, CSKA Head Coach:
Congratulations to all the guys with well-deserved victory, they fought until the end. This is a preseason game, and it shows how much more we have to work. Nevertheless, today we received some positive emotions. Lietuvos Rytas is a good, balanced team with a great coach Rimas Kurtinaitis. We have serious problems in the front line, because Matjaz Smodis will return, most likely, by spring, and treatment of Sasha Kaun may take another month. As for the young players, Sokolov who got 5 fouls accomplish his task by stopping his opponents. Dima is not ready physically yet to play 40 minutes, we will work on this. Anton Ponkrashov did not play before the break, made some good actions in offense, but allowed some easy shots in defense.
