Forward Sonny Weems prolonged the agreement with our club for 2015-16 and 2016-17 seasons.

Current contract expiring next year allowed the player to leave to the NBA this summer.

In two seasons as the Red-Blue Sonny approved himself as one of the team’s key players, showing hot shooting abilities, readiness to involve his teammates, to take responsibility in difficult moments and to guard the opposing team’s leaders. He played in 119 games for CSKA (109 starts), averaging 11.9 points, 3.0 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 0.8 steals and 0.2 blocked shots in 27.3 minutes. His effectiveness grew in 57 Euroleague games – 12.9 points, 3.2 rebounds, 2.9 assists, 0.8 steals in 28.8 minutes. Weems is one of the most accurate shooters of the team: American forward made 49.2% of two-point shots and 38.5% of three-point shots. Sonny is named to the All-Euroleague First Team of 2013-14 season.

Dimitris Itoudis, CSKA head coach:
Sonny is a very good player with quality experience of playing for CSKA and overseas. He has matured and really feels comfortable in European basketball. What is important is that he really likes to play for CSKA. He is a winner by nature, and from our conversation I realized that Weems is still hungry for titles. I am happy that he stays with us.

Sonny Weems, CSKA forward:
I really like Moscow, where I have many friends and great teammates. I still feel a responsibility, an obligation to win the Euroleague for CSKA. I am sure we will be strong enough and confident in ourselves to climb to the top. I am excited and looking forward to start the next season.
